John Steinmetz joined Vista Bank in 2007 as Lubbock Market President, and within seven years he was appointed Vista Bank’s first chief executive officer outside of the founding family of the 106-year-old organization. At the time of his appointment, Vista was a West Texas bank focused primarily on agricultural lending. He rebranded the organization, thus allowing Vista to evolve into a metro bank. Since Steinmetz joined, the organization’s assets have grown by nearly 400 percent as of September 30, 2017, which is no small feat for a legacy organization.
