Vision for this position:
As the Mortgage Operations Manager, you will be at the forefront of delivering the Bank’s back-office mortgage services for both internal and external stakeholders, leading multiple teams committed to delivering top-tier experiences across all fulfillment channels. You will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic initiatives to drive efficiency, ensuring smooth transactions from start to finish by integrating closely with the production team, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. As the Mortgage Operations Manager, you will monitor workflows and queues to ensure service levels are met, develop process improvements, and actively seek methods to streamline business processes to improve throughput, accuracy, and ultimately ensure accountability for the teams and their goals.
This role has responsibility for underwriting, processing, and loan servicing of both internal portfolio loans as well as investor loans, closing & funding, post-loan administration functions such as modification, subordinations and partial releases, compliance management, payment processing, escrow, insurance, and reporting. Through maintaining a high-performing, professional, and well-trained staff, the Mortgage Operations Manager will direct, motivate, and coordinate the development of mortgage team members to ensure maximum efficiency.
Your decisive, data-driven approach and commitment to continuous improvement will be pivotal in solving problems and elevating our mortgage operations every day. Additionally, you’ll lead and implement robust customer service programs to equip our teams with the skills needed to consistently deliver exceptional support.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the strategies for mortgage fulfillment, ensuring alignment with the bank’s overall mission and objectives. Provides oversite to all operational mortgage departments including underwriting, processing, closing, funding, and servicing.
- Continuously identify and implement strategies to optimize the mortgage lending process, improve efficiency, quality, and drive speed and capacity across all mortgage products. Improve established service levels for turn time processing, underwriting, closing and funding across all operational portfolios
- Partner with key business development resources and project teams to maximize opportunity and output efficiency.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability. Set clear goals and performance expectations and conduct regular performance evaluations. Engage, develop and support your team
- Collaborate with Compliance, Legal, and other departments as necessary, to maintain a fully efficient and compliant department
- Responsible for implementing and executing secondary-market programs and loan participations with partner institutions. Responsible for keeping abreast of all applicable state laws and regulations, investor guidelines and changes (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHLB, USDA, GNMA, Third Party) to assure program profitability and compliance.
- Evaluate technology trends and recommend options that can increase efficiency in lending operations and enhance member service.
- Participates in audits and exams
- Ensures compliance with all applicable company policies and banking regulations
- Perform other related work and duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3+ years of supervisory and leadership experience and relevant mortgage operations management experience
- 7+ years banking experience
- Ability to quality and maintain NMLS Registration (Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System)
- Extensive knowledge of state and federal lending laws and regulations, including the Truth in Lending Act (TILA), Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), and other relevant legislation
- Experience and thorough competency with the use of Encompass
- Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills; anticipate and plan ahead
- Strong organization, verbal and written communication
- Proven ability to plan, manage budgets, and prioritize multiple projects
- Excels at collaborating with others, at all levels, to ensure organizational goals are attained
- Can naturally identify opportunities for increased efficiency
- Follows policies and procedures, completes administrative tasks correctly and on time, supports organization’s goals and values
- In-depth understanding of federal and state regulations affecting mortgage operations
- Receptive to vision, direction, and constructive criticism from peers and leadership
- Non-remote job, must be able to commute to the Vista Bank Palm Beach Gardens Banking Center
- No visible tattoos or body piercings except conservative ear piercings
- Must meet minimum credit standards and pass a criminal background check. (Only applicants that have consented to a background and credit check will be considered.)
